B.Ed – Bachelor of Education
Bachelor of Education is a one-year postgraduate degree program offered by many institutes in different parts of the country. The course prepares students to become a qualified teacher in schools.
The B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. After completing B.Ed, an individual can go for M.Ed which is a Masters degree in Education. Only after completing M.Ed, teachers are allowed to teach the students of higher secondary.
The B.Ed course is offered in many subjects across different institutes in India. Some of the most common subjects across all the states are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Social Science
- Physical Science
- General Science
- Biological Science
- Commerce
- History
- Geography
- Computer Science
Apart from these common subjects, there are some more subjects which are based on the language of a particular state, like: Tamil, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Urdu, Telugu, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada and many more.
Eligibility Criteria for admission in B.Ed
A student must possess a graduate degree in Arts, Science or Commerce to be admitted in B.Ed. Students from Arts can opt for history, civics or geography. Students from science stream are trained to teach physics, chemistry and biology. Students from commerce stream can go for Economics or Commerce.
