Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, as a company was originally setup as a tramway company in the year 1873 in the name of Bombay Electric Supply & Tramways Company. Later on, the name has been changed to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport.
Today the Company has 2 primary Products : Bus and Electricity. The Undertaking now operates one of the largest fleet of Buses in India. The BEST Bus transport service covers entire Mumbai region and extends to Navi-Mumbai, Thane and Mira-Bhayandar.
The word BrihanMumbai in Marathi language means Greater Mumbai.
