IMEI – International Mobile Equipment Identity
International Mobile Equipment Identity is a unique number printed on the back side of your mobile battary or you can check it by dialing *#06# on standby mode. The format of the IMEI is XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-X, although it may not always be displayed this way.
Use Of IMEI Number
This number is used by a mobile networks to identify valid devices and stop other devices from accessing that network. IMEI number for a GSM network are stored in a database Equipment Identity Register (EIR) containing all valid mobile phone equipment. In case of a lost or stolen phone, the owner can call the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) and blacklist the device according to its IMEI number.
