IPS – Indian Police Service
The Indian Police Service was constituted under the Constitution of India in the year of 1948. The IPS officers provide senior level leadership particularly in the areas of crime prevention, smuggling, corruption in public life, investigation, maintenance of public peace, border policing, drug trafficking, disaster management and more, to Police Forces at the district, States and at the Center level.
The Indian Administrative Service is one of the 3 All India Services :-
Indian Police Service (IPS)
Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
Indian Forest Service (IFS)
Indian Police Service Officers can opt for one of the following career :-
- Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
- Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)
- Assistant Superintendent of Police
- Central Reserve Police Force
- Intelligence Bureau
- Director General of Police
- Border Security Force
