Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited is one of the oldest telecommunication company of India, incorporated to oversee the telecommunication operations in two of the largest metro cities of India: Delhi and Mumbai. It was established in 1986 and was the only telecommunication provider in these two regions till 1994.
The company offers Landline, Broadband and mobile services under different brand names like Dolphin and Trump. MTNL has the largest consumer base of Internet users in Delhi and Mumbai. It also offers other services such as VOIP, leased line and VPN.The company has also started offering FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) broadband service with the network speed of up to 1 Gbit/s.
MTNL also has its wholly-owned subsidiary in the island country of “Mauritius”.
This public limited company is losing huge revenue and market share in the past few decades due to the arrival of private players in the Indian telecommunication sector.
