PO – Probationary Officer
Probationary Officer is the entry level post given to the new recruits in Indian Banks. The freshers are generally recruited in this post to serve for certain period in probation, hence the name Probationary Officer.
In the probationary period, a trainee has to take assignments from their seniors and have to work in different areas of bank like account opening, cheque processing, loans, Foreign exchange, Credit Rating, Treasury etc. During the probationary period, bank has the authority to terminate the employee from its services.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University. There is certain limit on the age of the candidate to appear for the entrance exam of PO. But, normally there is a caste wise relaxation on the age. For example the SC/ST candidates may get a 5 years relaxation.
