SP – Superintendent of Police
In India, a district Superintendent of Police is incharge of the police force in the whole district of a state or a union territory of India. Superintendent of Police is the officer of Indian Police Service. He ensures the maintenance of law and order in his district or Union Territory.
The district superintendent of police holds equal rand to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP). Below the rank of SP is the Additional Deputy Commissioner of police (ADL.DCP) or Additional Superintendent of police (ASP), while above the rank of SP is the Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) or Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP).
